Cashman Equipment to Sell and Service Legacy Bucyrus Mining Products

Tuesday, March 5, 2013 (Las Vegas, Nevada) – After months of preparation, Cashman Equipment has completed the process of officially becoming a legacy Bucyrus Mining Products dealership. The purchase will allow Cashman Equipment to provide mining customers with the complete range of products they require to be competitive in the industry.

Upon purchasing Bucyrus International Inc. in July 2011, Caterpillar Inc. stated that they would be changing Bucyrus’ model of direct sales and support to a local level of distribution of products and services through Cat dealerships like Cashman Equipment. Cashman Equipment will be providing sales, parts, service, and support for the legacy Bucyrus mining products, including hydraulic shovels, electric rope shovels, and drills used in mining, construction and exploration. While still referred to as “Bucyrus” by many in the industry, these products are being manufactured as Cat and feature the distinctive brand and Cat yellow color.

Mining shovels such as the Cat 7495 Electric Rope Shovel have already been sold to customers within Cashman’s Nevada territory. Cashman Equipment and Caterpillar Field Services technicians are currently assembling the first of three electric rope shovels in Northern Nevada and expect it will take 15 technicians nearly three months to assemble each shovel. When complete, the shovel will be able to move approximately 73 cubic yards of material per “pass,” as it’s commonly called.

“A transition of this magnitude takes months of hard work on both sides of the table,” said Todd Gilligan, Cashman Equipment’s General Manager of Sales and Marketing. “We’re very pleased to have successfully completed this phase in a timely manner. This newly acquired business will be integrated into our current Cashman operations.” Gilligan went on to say that after much anticipation, the company is looking forward to offering this expanded product line, combined with the after-sale support that our customers expect within our area.
