Surface Mining

Surface Mining Equipment

The majority of surface mining equipment in the world comes from one company: Caterpillar. And for good reason. Cat equipment proudly sold and serviced by Cashman Equipment is designed to lower cost per ton by providing productive and reliable performance. The Cat surface mining product line is unmatched, with equipment for drilling, digging and cutting; moving and hauling material; and maintaining efficient mine sites.

Ranging from dozers, drills and draglines to trucks, shovels, loaders and a host of support equipment, Cashman Equipment is committed to being a strong, reliable partner for any size surface mining operation. In addition, we have a companywide enduring dedication to safety and sustainability. We understand the challenges and intricacies of the mining industry and can help you mine site achieve the lowest cost-per-ton operations while meeting and surpassing all safety standards.

Our employees are experienced and knowledgeable about mining and are ready to help you find the right equipment for your mine site in Nevada and the Easter Sierras area. From products, parts, and service to pumps, power, and technology, we will work with you to get what you need to get the job done.

Large Mining Dozers

Caterpillar has the industry’s broadest lineup of dozers working in dozens of applications, climates and environments. Track-type tractors are some of the most versatile machines in mining — moving material to build, maintain and reclaim mine sites. These universal machines can be customized with tools like rippers, rakes, and reclamation blades to meet site-specific requirements.

Draglines for Mining

Draglines can move hundreds of tons of overburden material, and Cat draglines offer the lowest material removal cost-per-ton, consume less power, and emit fewer greenhouse gases than other methods of overburden removal.  Cat draglines from Cashman are huge powerful machines that offer more than 45 sets of specifications across a range of sizes, as well as application engineering support that can set you up with the machine that meets your exact needs.

Rotary Drills & Track Drills

Drilling is typically the first phase of the mining process, achieving desired rock fragmentation and bench conditions through drilling and blasting.  Surface mines rely on rotary drills to quickly drill consistent blast patterns, as well as the Weiler line of track drills for presplit drilling, mine expansion, production drilling, and grade control. Cat drills are used in all applications — soft and hard rock, extreme temperatures and high altitudes. Drilling and blasting result in broken materials that are then ready to be moved by excavators, shovels, draglines, and other loading equipment from Cashman.

Electric Rope Shovels

Cat’s electric rope shovel are designed for durability and dependability, offering the lowest cost-per-ton loading solution for long-life mines and having an operating live of 120,000 hours. Extended performance in the harsh mining conditions you face daily is accomplished through selection of high-strength steels and rugged castings, joined and thermally stress-relieved to create a reliable shell. The electric rope shovel’s immense payload capability, low maintenance requirements, and high reliability make it one of the most productive loading tools in the industry.

Hydraulic Shovels

From removing overburden to loading haul trucks, Cat hydraulic shovels have proven success across mining applications. Multiple design upgrades have produced reduced swing times and more energy-efficient motions, while a sturdy undercarriage and high-level diagnostic systems reduce downtime. Plus, Cat hydraulic shovels help you achieve targeted loading/hauling production with an efficient loading/hauling system that functions through an optimized equipment match between a Cat shovel and mining truck.

Cat Motor Graders

Motor graders help create and maintain constant grade and proper drainage on haul roads, and have a direct influence on mine-site productivity and costs. When haul roads are kept in top condition, trucks run faster, cycle times improve and more ore is produced. Good road conditions also reduce truck maintenance, lower fuel costs, and reduce tire damage.

Off-Highway Trucks – Large Cat Mining Trucks

When people think of a mining truck, they almost always envision a Cat haul truck. And that’s because Caterpillar offers the industry’s broadest product line, with hauling products for every application — high heat or freezing temperatures; extreme uphill applications; long, flat haul profiles; downhill loaded hauls; and high altitude environments. Large Cat Mining Trucks set the standard for the industry in hauling.

Mining Trucks – Mechanical Drive
Moving high volumes of material at the lowest possible cost is the goal of every surface mining operation. The selection of a truck fleet is a significant investment that requires careful consideration. Caterpillar offers a wide range of mechanical drive mining trucks that deliver what mining customers demand: physical availability, optimized payload, fuel efficiency, operator comfort, enhanced serviceability and best-in-class performance.

Mining Trucks – Electric Drive
Caterpillar makes four models of AC electric drive trucks, and combined with our offerings from the Unit Rig truck line, we offer mining customers more choices to fit their specific needs for optimizing production at the lowest cost. These products are continually improving, with record investments in Research & Development and the combined experience of both Caterpillar and Unit Rig.

Cat Large Wheel Loaders

Wheel loaders can travel at speeds up to 24 miles per hour, more than 20 times faster than their loading counterparts. That means that Cat Wheel Loaders have the mobility, versatility, and size to keep production moving at an efficient pace, working both as a loader and a support machine for other loading tools on site. Additionally, these machines are pass-matched with Cat mining trucks to provide full truck payloads with minimum loading time.
