Cashman Equipment Receives Regional Supplier of the Year Award from Newmont Mining

Thursday, November 08, 2012 (Las Vegas, Nevada) Cashman Equipment, Nevada’s Caterpillar dealership, was honored to be chosen as Newmont Mining Corporation’s 2012 Regional Supplier of the Year for North America out of more than 2,500 suppliers. The Supplier of the Year awards recognize Newmont’s top regional and global vendors for their contributions toward lasting partnerships, while demonstrating Newmont’s values in worker safety, environmental protection, and social responsibility.

Newmont executives Jon George (Regional Director – North America) and Melanie Miller (Vice President, Global Supply Management) presented Ed Hintz (Cashman Equipment Account Manager for Newmont) and Mike Pack (Cashman President and Chief Operating Officer) with the award for Regional Supplier of the Year for North America. More than 200 attendees were on hand to discover Newmont Mining’s reasons for selecting Cashman Equipment for this prestigious award. They included:

• A partnership and a commitment to consistently performing above expectations for several years.
• Continuing to improve supplier–customer relations in 2012, which enabled Newmont to achieve a top-in-class supply chain focused on quality, capacity management, and total cost.
• Consistently delivering on Newmont’s business demands and providing exceptional support of the global Caterpillar Alliance outlining the value of the relationship.
• Community involvement and support throughout the entire state of Nevada

Working with Newmont Mining for more than 24 years, Hintz was particularly honored by its selection. Having handled parts orders and then service dispatch before becoming the on-site project manager for Newmont in Northern Nevada, Hintz has worked almost as closely with Newmont as he has with Cashman Equipment.

“I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years, but the most important thing has always been the support,” said Hintz. “Whether it’s parts, service, sales, or just hours spent understanding Newmont’s business, you have to be there in order to build a strong relationship.” He went on to say that through changing business climates, the two companies have worked together, and Cashman Equipment has labored to be simultaneously consistent and flexible in order to meet Newmont needs in Nevada.

Pack, a 25 plus year veteran of the construction and mining industries with five years at Cashman Equipment, emphasized the importance of relationships. “Cashman wasn’t chosen [as Regional Supplier of the Year] because we’re perfect,” said Pack. “We were chosen because of our ability to work through the tough issues and get them solved, no matter what.”

This is the first time Cashman Equipment has been selected by Newmont as a Regional Supplier of the Year, and was the only Caterpillar dealership chosen worldwide in 2012.
