SERVICE TECHS: OUR UNSUNG HEROES
We’re celebrating some of the unsung heroes of our industry: the service technician. Technicians are vital to ensuring Cat machines and engines fulfill the promise that Cashman makes with every equipment and product sale.
Inspired by some of your favorite athletic challenge reality TV shows, Cat Trial 10: TECH TEST is a fun and exciting way for technicians to demonstrate their knowledge and skill. Check out the fifth Webisode video as well as the original video below!
CAT TRIAL 10 WEBISODE 9 – SERVICE TECHNICIAN CAREER
Technicians work in a fast-paced environment and Tech Test combines that with exciting challenges to test their skill and endurance. The course consists of four challenges:
- The Cat Can Test is a 3D puzzle designed by Caterpillar – an oversized version of the one that some dealerships, including Cashman, use to gage mechanical aptitude.
- Next, the Cat techs’ desire to learn is tested when they match Cat engines to specific applications.
- From there, they’ll hit the troubleshooting challenge, testing their knowledge of Cat services.
- And our technicians finish with a safety mindset assessment, where they use the Cat App to do a walkaround and pull a parts order.
CAT TRIAL 10: TECH TEST
The need for well-trained, highly skilled technicians is critical – and not just at Caterpillar – but across the construction, mining, agriculture, forestry, power generation, and additional industries. Based on current demand and future goals, globally, there is a need to hire between 10,000 and 14,000 technicians a year.
Do YOU have what it takes to pass the test?
Over the next decade, Caterpillar and Cat dealers around the world will be hiring tens of thousands of service technicians, and you’ll see a similar trend across the industry. These are challenging, good paying jobs – so much more than turning wrenches.
You’ll have the opportunity to become an expert working with the latest technology on hundreds of different Cat machines and engines, helping our customers – the people building the world.
